even cars on time and distance servicing plans should be on longlife oils

a VW dealer should know this. if they've not used a longlife oil i'd be asking for an oil change FOC, via VW UK if necessary

Interesting...  i had the same argument with VW today after my service as I was told T&D isnt long life (they have used Castrol 5W-40) so we agreed that if i found out otherwise then I would be bringing the car back for them to do again...

can anyone formally confirm what should be used on T&D.... I would love to be able to ring the guy tomorrow, made him go get me his card just incase he was wrong and I was right??

Any VW mechanics that can confirm?

Dont bother arguing everytime this question is posted on here wrong info is posted, either 5w/40 (502.00) t&d or 5w/30 504.00 longlife can be used that is a fact,it says it on etka,it says it on the service sheet they print out and vw specify it themselves when cars are on service plans.

Im sure there was a service bulletin that was issued that stated the engine should be run on longlife oil at all times regardless of service interval.

Don't suppose anyone can find this bulletin?

Now i have no problem with someone recomending that longlife oil be used on time and distance and changing at 10k as that is fine, what irritates me is people saying that the 502.00 oil is definatly wrong and scaremongering telling them to go back to their dealer and get them to change it basically telling them to get into an argument.

I have a 2010 bookpack and it still says you can use 502.00 all the way upto and including a new Golf R so if this 2008 buletin exists why does it still say it?

Here in the states the recommended grade is 5W40. Going to do a change this weekend with Castrol SPT synt. and installing a drain valve as well. Drains will just be a flip of a switch from now on.

Drain valve?  :popcornsoda:

it is the oil slick button next to EPS.  :happy2:

I did my usual 5k oil change last week with edge 5w30.

Did a track day at the weekend so am
Doing another oil change this week.

VW 502 00/ 505 00 is the the correct Vw spec?  Ordering the new spec edge 5w40. Any thoughts?
