Jim sounds like you've got a sticky piston.

The seals are square in a rhomboidal recess, sounds like the piston isn't retracting when of the pedal.

Did you use some decent assembly grease on the seals and pistons when you nut them back together

jimk04:
Thanks Dave - that was a thought to be honest as I dont think I greased them on reassembly - I think I thought the fluid would lube them up :ashamed:

I have moved them in and out a few times manually - taking pads out and checking they are free, but it looks like I might take em to bits and lube them up.

could I use this Pagid Ceratec I have here now?

DaveB@Vagbremtechnic:
Errrrrrr no, that's for binding pads to calipers and keeping them quiet.....

You need the opposite...you need a lithium based grease, brakes international are selling it on eBay at the mo.

Alternatively take the seals out clean them using a clean cloth and then immerse them in seal conditioner for 30 minutes or new clean brake fluid for 90 minutes. Lithium grease is preferable.

I'd do them all pal, or if you're local pop in to mine and we can do it while you wait

jimk04:
Star man for the offer Dave but I'm a good way from you. I'm ok with doing it....just need to plan a time.to do it.

A 4 day weekend would be nice.....

.....errrr :stupid:
