Oil pressure warning light switch off engine!
Sammy:
I had the new engine fitted in today and the car was started for the first time, we let it idle for about 10 mins. All good no smoke bangs or anything wierd, when ready to go on idle I revved the engine up to about 2.5 rpm and then on the trip computer the warning light came up saying STOP! Oil pressure and to switch off the engine, I did so immediately and left it as it is.
This is what maybe causing it, when the engine was being fitted the original loom (from old engine) was being used and everything wired up except the oil pressure sensor from the new engine, so what they did was used the old sensor from my AXX engine on to the new one, could the problem mean the old sensor is not compatible with the new engine?
This was around 5pm so had to leave it with them again and need to wait till Monday to see what happens,
Can anyone shed some light on this problem?
I did use the search thread and nicks write up on the oil line came up but am just trying to figure out about any differences these sensors would have between a engine with k03 and a engine made for a k04
Sammy:
Someone help please !
vRSAlex:
Why couldn't you use the pressure sensor from the new engine? Did you fit a new oil filter and oil?

I was told it did not fit on to the existing loom, And yes new oil and filter was used Alex

Has the oil level been checked to see if its above minimum? Also I would try and unplug and plug in the sensor to see if its fitted correctly. I cant see there being different types of oil pressure sensors for different engine codes.
