Prestige KM Car Insurance Scheme now CLOSED but new scheme with Be Wiser!

So I was ringing around in a bit of a rush last week and agreed to go with Prestige. Paperwork came through and I when I read carefully the low premium wasn't so low because of admin fees, compulsory legal and huge APR on the monthly payments, plus £50 to even have the option to pay monthly!

Called up today to cancel explaining it was too expensive. Guy on the phone seemed quite happy for me to cancel, no offer of helping reduce cost and then the stinger, £50 to cancel before the policy has even begun!! Argued with the guy on the phone who wouldn't help; said there was no complaints department, his team leader wouldn't help me etc.

So, to summarise: initial very attarctive low premium. Stitched up with high admin fees, huge apr on monthly payments and not very helpful after the initial quote phone call.

I checked with the manager of the team as I'm working from home & he confirms what I thought - "We do tell all customers the APR and instalment charges and total payable before setting up a policy". We can listen to the call & he says that "he quoted for you and then one of the team read the terms and conditions. You advised you wanted to pay the balance within 21 days which wouldn’t have incurred the interest or instalment charges."

Rung up few days ago got told I will be rung back as people are to busy never got a phone call. Rung another 5-6 times no one could help me though lets try one more time. Finally someone could give me a quote and was 3 times more then any other company.  well was worth a try. Would definitely say atleast please call back like promised

Sorry to hear this Kam. I think the Christmas period always has its difficulties with having in skeleton staff though that is no excuse. We are devising an online quote system for launch in around a month which would help at these holiday times.

PS. I just messaged the manager of the team about this & he has replied - Yes the staffing issues haven’t helped, we were far busier all round than expected and this has had a knock on effect.

Quotes were up, sales were up, conversion rates were up & the renewal retention percentage was up with the March figures for the whole scheme based on the previous month! So onwards & upwards!
 
Here is some of that month’s feedback from the first week alone -
 
- Just renewed my policy with your company. Prestige was £102 cheaper than my previous insurer and the excess was £250 cheaper. Spoke with Dave and Sharif, thanks lads. Gary75

- VERY HAPPY !! :-)) As I was after holiday, a bit late with important things - they've sorted me out just brilliant!! Paul is a top guy that gave me peace of mind and about £200 savings...Big Thanks, Marcin. Tekiel, Type R owners.
 
- I've just switched to Prestige Keep Moving after a very decent quote and some star service from one of their Sales Advisors (Paulius). Rather than run up a phone bill, I volunteered to send through a list of all mods so they could be OK'd by the underwriters. Paul turned this around within a few hours via a quick email exchange, and he was also kind enough to confirm a couple of additional policy details that I wanted more info on. Its good to have all that confirmed in writing. Great service guys. Insuring an imported and modified '2 in a Manchester postcode is usually a recipe for trauma. You've made it sensibly straightforward. One thing that really appeals to me is that they don't draw a sharp breath when you mention Mods and they don't use them as a lever to inflate the quote beyond sensible. Intentionally or not, they seem to treat Club members as enthusiastic owners who are naturally very precious about their cars. Nice to know we have a broker out there who acknowledges the enthusiast and doesn't run a mile at the hint of a modification. Ste ‘Spit’, MR2 Roadster Owners Club.
