Brake Ducts
« on: November 19, 2008, 04:41:29 pm »
Me again

When I was poking around the Ed at the weekend I noticed that there are two rectangle holes in the inner arches. I presume this is for brake ducts? Does the R32 run brake ducts? anyone know the part number?

Cheers

After replacing a new set of Brembo discs (£400) after two track days due to overheating and cracking, I've run some extra cooling ducting through the front fog lamp vents.

A friend who runs a Seat Cupra in the Sportmaxx Cup, has poped out the fog lamps to install the ducting but I didnt want to loose them so cut in a section of pipe to connect the Forge 65mm V2 ducting.

Its a bit tight getting it through, had to relocate the Horns and get it over the Forge pipe work from the Intercooler but have managed to direct it onto the back of the brake discs, it's worked well on the last few trackdays.

Good work!!

I notice that yours doesn't have the rectangle holes on the inner arch?
Mine does, wonder why that is, I will get some pics later on. I've got to go to pick some parts up at VW later so will get the parts chap to have a look for me.

....

I've got quite large rectangular holes in my front inner arches. It would be easy to duct to the brakes from my front splitter slots.

yep thats the ones.

Thanks for not getting me to grovel around on the floor.

Was looking around t'other day and found a pic of an R32 with the brake ducts in so i'm pretty sure its the same. The only difference is the R32 had the edges of the arch radiiiiiiiied to help air flow presummably.

Be good if we could make use of them hey?
