Downpipe with stock catback

Hi folks,

Looking for some advice, has anyone fitted a downpipe but kept the oem catback system? I have read that the main restrictions are in the downpipe and that the stock catback should still be OK for stage 2. Also is an uprgaed axuhaust system a must for stage 2 as I have also read that a cat back upgrade will not give a huge gain and a urbo back is the prefered option? Would a pre-cat delete may be wowrthwhile?

I have an edition 30 and am looking to upgrade to satge 2, also how acceptable will the nise levels be when at mortorway cruising speeds? Excuse my lack of knowledge but any info would be appreciated.

I had a milltek highflow sportscat connected to oem backbox..u get a little bit more noise & with a remap there are big gains..hope this helps mate

High flow DP with stock cat back is ok.

Stage 2 does need DP to take advantage of the code. Otherwise stage 1 can cater for all other mods excl DP / HPFP mods

What are the gains you ae likely to get from a decat to a standard exhaust system, also with some sort of induction upgrade on a normal GTI?

I've got a 3'' blueflame DP and decat on my vRS mated to standard cat back and on a stage II custom map have got 260bhp
