Xenons
« on: August 15, 2012, 12:01:53 pm »
Hi all,

First post here, however I have been readidng about for a while and I must say there is some really good infomation on the forum.

I am looking at purchasing a set of complete R32 xenons (inc ballasts, bulbs, ignitors) for my MK5 TDI with the kufatec wiring adapter for a good price from someone local to me.

I am just wondering, before I take the plunge and buy the headlamps, is it possible that can I connect them to my car with the harness to make sure they work in front of the person who I am buying them from? This is providing that the seller is ok with this.

I have read about having to code the xenons for the high beams and having to self level, however I just want to check to make sure the lights work as they should.

Thanks.

One thing to check is that I think new MOT rules now states you need to have washers for Xenons.

Incorrect. Read the new laws again.

Washers must work...if fitted.
Auto levelling must work ......if fitted.

If the above is not present, then it won't be failed. Only if inoperative it would then fail.

Must admit i was looking at getting Xenon's a while ago but then saw threads and talk of the MOT failure situation so have missed out on a few decent sets but was corrected myself recently so will now be back on the look out
