OEM Big Brake upgrade
« on: June 08, 2009, 09:02:29 pm »
Some of you saw the evidence on Saturday @ Superchips well here are the results.

Yes I know they need cleaning before people say. :P

Supplied by MatEd30 (cheers fella  :happy2:) and fitted by JKM earlier today (thanks guys :happy2:).

They are the OEM front brakes from the Mk2 Leon Cupra R.

345mm disc versus the 312mm standard one. Bigger single piston calipers than the originals.

I think for the money they are an excellent option. I doubt I will need any thing more exotic as I don't plan any trackdays, other than for taking photos.
I'm still bedding them in but already the pedal feels firmer, with more bite. As the days progress I will push them a bit more but initial impressions are good.

Good work! :)

I'm refurbing a set of blue ones I got a few weeks ago, unfortunately the paint in the tin was bright orange!

What did you do with the brake lines?  Did you use the old ones and get rid of the solid lines or use the Leon lines?

wait till the pads are fully bedded in before you start doing jenson button late braking moves!

mine needed about 100 miles before they really started working!  Was actually worried at first with the new pads....well dodgy.

but bloody fantastic when bedded in and super VFM!  and as you know hedge...i always like a good bargain  :signLOL:

Brake lines were all new as Matt says.

Purely for research purposes I tried the pedal a bit harder on the way to work.
These brakes have plenty of feel and are certainly way more capable than I expected.

An excellent 'fast road' upgrade.
