DSG Reflash - anyone done it in a tuned ED30/Pirelli?
« on: June 25, 2009, 05:45:41 pm »
It has been discussed in a couple of threads that the K04 keeps on giving beyond the DSG's factory upshift point.
Seems to be something especially obvious to those with a software tune.
...and something the manual owners enjoy a little bit ;)

Has anyone tried the DSG reflash from HPA or GIAC in their stage 1 tuned k04 car?

The features/price of the GIAC reflash look pretty good to me.
D mode remains normal.
S mode becomes mental.
M mode lets you bounce off a 71xx rpm limiter - i.e. actually be in 'manual'.
...and a few different 'launch control' modes.

Would be interested in hearing about experiences and whether you feel this 'uncorked' your k04.

If this should go in the GIAC section, can a mod please move it - but it is more of a general question about DSG tunes.
APR are supposedly working on one too (according to a thread on www.golfmkv.com)

Cheers,
Martin

What happens if you have the dsg remapped with a stage 1 engine remap but then revert the engine map to standard for a service, will the dsg box with the flasj still work with the standard map  :rolleye:

....*cough* They are independent of each other but the DSG remap smartly takes its cue from however the ECU is behaving *cough*

^^^ Also without the engine remap one thing you wouldn't be benefiting from is the raised rev limit as the engine soft rev limit would cut the power before reaching the raised limit of the DSG gearbox I would think but could be total wrong  :rolleye:

PS - Get well soon Robin

I know i wouldnt get the benefit without the map on but just want to make sure that the dsg flash isnt matched to the Bluefin therefore causing issues if the i try to run it with the standard map. Cheers  :happy2:

^^^ I spoke with SC about these and they have no immediate plans to do a DSG remap so this is a big part of why I changed to Revo as I want an engine and DSG remap from the same tuner  :happy2:

Did you try a revo stage 1 remap, if so how did it feel compared to the Bluefin?

Thanks for the replies guys. I should have searched first!  :ashamed:

I shot an email over to the guys at Superchips who said they can raise the
ECU rev limit on their reflash (and have done for other ED30 customers)
to work with the GIAC DSG reflash, so i'm pretty happy about that.

The GIAC DSG flash is a lovely piece of mapping. It truly unleashes the upper power limits of the DSG. :happy2:
