A small alteration if I may.....

....You may definitely not, my friend!

This is the forum logo approved by the Admin team (see the forum header):

^ In the absence of artwork I have had to recreate the logo and have taken the opportunity to create the 'GTI' lettering as a more accurate match to the Volkswagen font (which isn't publicly available).

Furthermore, it should also match how it appears on the cover (on the green part of your photo) - Look at the cover and the calendar spreads together, Rich. Plus it doesn't balance at the size you have shown it. It also becomes much less of a logo when it's as you are suggesting. I could go on but it's late and also there's still lots more to do before this calendar gets printed.

.
For what it's worth, I know the forum isn't screaming to gain more members but I view the 2013 calendar as also promoting the forum and the way I am portraying the 'black logo strip' is much stronger and more consistent than if its black background was removed. Although I am retired (red, and dangerous), I still have my professional designer's hat and I am currently wearing it.

But please understand, Rich, that I have taken notice of your suggested alteration and am not rejecting it without full proper consideration  :happy2:

The black box doesn't define the logo though robin..... ;-)

....Yes, of course you can argue the case but I have done enough corporate identity manuals in my time to know that a logo and its various manifestations can be defined according to a number of applications. For this calendar application, I (with Admin team approval) have decided that this particular version is the 'logo' being used. As said before, it is both stronger and hence more effective, and is more consistent with the web forum heading, if it's in the black panel version which I have created.

I really do not want to spend more time justifying what I have designed when my understanding is that it already has the forum Admin team's approval.
