I have a totally standard Ed30, 31k mileage and excellent condition.
Im thinking of doing some minor mods in terms of performance but dont want to go over board.   What can i do?

Keep enjoying the stock car or do the complete program:

- remap
- downpipe + exhaust
- clutch if you don't have DSG
- LSD
- uprated engine mounts

Not to mention uprated brakes, tyres and suspension.

No, there is NO half way other than just a stage 1 remap from my (long term) experience on the forums.
If you want more than, say, 280 BHP and 380 Nm, you WILL need a new clutch + engine + mounts + DP . . .

The truth is it's not that easy it looks on the first view.

....Bruce speaks the truth.

Understood that you don't want to remortgage your home to fund your car mods, but it is a good idea to sit back and decide just how you want your car to be in the long term and how you want to use your car - Occasional trackdays for example?

Obviously how long you intend to keep your car is a factor.

The beauty of doing your program of mods gradually is that you experience what each mod does and also, if you have any problems, it's easier to diagnose by the process of elimination. It's easier on your cashflow too. It's taken me 7 years to get my ride to where she is now - Very driveable, handles extremely well, and balanced power without over stressing and now at 105,000 miles.

It's a great journey and there's so many helpful folks on this forum with specialist knowledge and skills.  :happy2:

Another vote for r32 brake upgrade here. Standard brakes are pants

....Better if you also put R32/S3 (they are the same) on the rear. It balances up the braking better - At least it does with AP Racing's brakes on the front - Keeps the car very even under hard braking.

Modding is a slippery slope!

I don't buy into the argument about brake upgrades. I have a revo stage1 eddy with an ITG intake pushing around 300 bhp with standard brakes which is perfect for road use. I honestly think that unless you intend to take your car on a track then the standard brakes are fine.
