So if your only ever going to be on stage 1 the standard clutch is up to the task

I am in the same boat bud,

I have had my Ed30 for just over a year now, its an 08 with 33k on the clock.Whilst the remap (stage 1) power gains are extremely tempting, i have the same concerns as you..

What if the clutch cant take it? could end up costing me twice as much :(

Also what about the general drive ability of the car? does the car drive better having the remap? not in terms of raw power and torque but just normal day to day driving. At the moment there is quite a bit of turbo lag, is that reduced with the map or enhanced?

I love my car i just worried about ruining the overall driving experience.

Anybody who has made the jump have any advice?

My thoughts...

The best way to ruin the driving experience with stage 1 on a K04 is to turn it back to "stock"!

You have to get used to the power delivery (e.g. don't floor it from a standstill) but once you do, you will kick yourself because you have covered so many miles without it.

When I bought the Pirelli it took a little bit of getting used to regards the power delivery. Think of it as getting used to a new car and how id drives. It will definitely not ruin the one you have, and you'll start thinking "This is how VW should have made it from the start".

Get the map done, enjoy your cars new characteristics and (one day) if you need a new clutch decide on OEM or uprated.
