And here is what I got cracking with today...

First of all I got the help of my BFFL with changing the rear valance over...didn't get many pictures of this as it's incredibly fiddly..

Everything given another spray down with BH Surfex at 1:20 and agitated with a brush, jetted off and any left over wiped off with a microfibre. Didn't get any finished pictures of this part but it was like new!

Onto the rest of the car..

Wheels/hubs/calipers..

Rear:

Front:

Front suspension arms

Rear suspension arm

You might notice on the spacer I had got some paint on when I painted my last set of discs - no great bother. Also the clips on the front calipers, I painted last time - I just went over these again, because I will be getting S3 caliper clips in the future so it's no fuss.. I would have removed and painted them silver but I didn't have any silver paint with me..

So out with the Hammerite, and variety of brushes.. Results..

While I am really OCD I didn't have time today to tape everything off, the little bit of over-brush I can live with on the hub face.. it's not ever seen anyway. The calipers were painted previously and I gave them a quick once-over to fill any chips and what not in. They are not perfect by any means but for now it's much better than nothing. :p

And the rears

Bit more awkward these ones, because if you paint too far on the back of the caliper you get paint on the sliders and they seize... :wall::wall:

Front suspension arms

And the rear ones

Remember way back in the first bunch of pictures? The door frame, horrible faded trim and watermark central?

Finally, gave the car a wipe down with Finale to remove the dust that had settled overnight, and another 2 layers of my new favourite wax...

All of the grills and the splitter given the trim gel treatment and everything was buffed off, leaving the finished pictures..

And the GTI rear valance fitted... I was waiting to get it painted, however since I'm £800 down getting this replacement gearbox, it will be at least another two months before everything comes to plan...

And the wheels back on... for the time being.

Well, after nearly 16 hours of work, my work is done. I'm really happy with how everything has turned out, knowing that it's been done now will hopefully mean when I come to do things in the future, it will take a lot less effort! Haha

Is your smoothed GT grill sprayed or wrapped?
Only thing, prob stupid question. Why have you removed the over rider-thingys from the non fog grills?

Keep up the good work  :happy2:

Cheers pal. Yeah she's looking good. Go for it, haha!
The GT grill was sprayed mate, it's a pain in the arse to wrap (I did it twice already) and always bubbled in the corners because of the curve.

I've not removed them, I just haven't got them yet and haven't since I've had the bumper!  :signLOL: I'm trying to buy some replica bits off Ebay, but it's just not on the list of priorities at the moment..
