Hey all

Giving polishing a go for the first time next weekend.

I have my shopping list; Polisher from Halfrauds http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_189810_langId_-1_categoryId_165640 (any good? - Don't want to spend too much, as long as it does the job!?)

Meguiar's Quick Clay

Autoglym Super Resin Polish

PB Blackhole Glaze

Tape

Polishing Pads

I have a quick question mind, have I missed anything above and; when Polishing, what type of pads will I need and how many?

Thanks!  :happy2:

Sounds like that polisher doesn't have much Oomph, might have to end up polishing it off by hand.

Although a lot more expensive these are considered pretty good: http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/polishing-machines/das-6-pro-dual-action-polisher/das-6-pro-dual-action-polisher/prod_673.html

Use discount code: DAS6GROUPBUY for £15 OFF :happy2:

Thanks Scott! Seems like you need to pay that much for a half decent polisher!

In relation to the pads, does anyone how many will I need and if there are different pads, which is best etc?

Thanks

stealthwolf:
Choice of pads, polishes and polisher come down to personal preference and experience. Go for something that has pads and polishes in a kit. You might want to look into spot pads for smaller areas - you will need a suitable backing plate and pads. I like sonus and chemical guys pads. I like menzerna polishes. Others will have other preferences. At your stage a polishing pad and a finishing pad is all you really need.

Horatio:
AG super resin polish and PB BlackHole has no cutting ability. They both have fillers. You'll get a better finish using the Halfords polisher rather than by hand. Apply BlackHole as a final finish on top of what ever wax or sealent you use. I would probably use super resin polish first, then Black Hole, then a wax/sealent. In terms of pads, you will probably get one polish pad in the box.

Post up your results  :happy2:

edit : looked again ■Includes 1 x towelling bonnet & 1 x finishing bonnet.

Should be all you need  :happy2:
