 :stupid:

Tuners on the forum have had insurance companies approach them to check if ECU's have been tampered with  :surprised:

It does happen and your better to be safe than sorry and potentially get a claim refused.

It's actually been cheaper to insure a modified car for me using the right insurer.

Everyone is having ECU's mapped these days, it's big business and insurance companies a) aren't daft, and b) will check everything if it means they can avoid paying out.

Well covered subject on this forum

Yes they do!  :stupid:

If your driving around in a mapped car and you've not told your insurance provider, that insurance is worth (as you so politely use the word) sh*t.

Adding all the mods to mine (on a like for like basis) and also adding over 100 bhp cost next to nothing extra.

I know Gary from Brentacre has seen my build thread as he recongised the car!!

Insurance people, especially enthusiast oriented insurers can and do check on forums.
For me at 22 to add a power limit to my policy, is £150 or something perfectly reasonable (280bhp more than enough for a k03s or a low tuned k04).

MC71:
^^^^ Yes, they all check the forums and if you've got nothing to hide (as it's all declared), you've nothing to worry about.  I've even declared the various decals/stickers on my car.

:happy2:

Yeah not worth hiding any mods and invalidating your insurance.

How long does the whole mapping process take?
