Here it is, my Laser Blue beauty!
« on: September 16, 2009, 10:17:13 pm »

Hope this works!

Picked it up today, and chuffed to bits! Needs a bit of TLC; wheels to be refurbed and a bit of paintwork to be sprayed but other than that it's fantastic!

I want to start with bringing it up to scratch condition wise first. Sort out the wheels and a few scratches, then possibly an RNS510. The previous owner had it remapped by revo, so going to contact Revo just to see what's been done.

My very first job though will be to integrate my iphone 3G so I can listen to some tunes! Any ideas on what would be best to connect to the standard head unit?

Is it DSG?

Yes, it's a DSG gearbox. Also got sunroof, cruise control, rear parking sensors, 18" Monza's, 6cd in armrest and a Parrott 3200LS bluetooth kit!

I'm loving it! (apart from the fuel consumption, which is a bit scarey compared to my 3 series diesel I just sold!)

Car looks stunning, we dont have enough of this colour on here.  :happy2:
I know you are comparing your fuel consumption to your Beamer, but the GTI is amazingly frugal for a pretty nippy car. Perhaps go and give it a health check, you may be carrying a small problem that is pushing your consumption up.
My GTI is better on fuel than my misses 1.6 focus.  :chicken:

It was serviced only a few eeks ago by the previous owner so it should be running ok. I filled it up last night with Tesco 99, so will see how that goes and then maybe try a tank of V Power to compare the 2.
My Beemer was a diesel so I may be expecting too much out of the GTi, and to be honest the last time I had a petrol car was when I worked for Audi, and didn't care how many mpg I got coz I had a fuel card!!

I really like laser blue but when I bought my MY06 i was told that colour ceased to be produced in 2005. Is it definitely a UK car or an import?

Looks lovely & nice spec :happy2:

Thanks for the comments Rob. Where do you get the white LED side lights from then? Do you have a contact through work?

It needs a bit of paintwork doing, do you know any decent bodyshops at all?

i used aylesford coach works i cant speak highly enough outstanding work but comes at a price. As for the bulbs just a simple ebay job although you will need a load resister for each side but these are only a few quid and simple to wire in
