This looks brilliant and a huge improvement over the OEM one. My car is a 2006 and I'm about to do this swap, can I ask you how hard it is? And did it work out of the box or were there complications? I've read I may need a different loom

I'm about to do this and reading the various how to threads (posted above).
My car is 2006 GT TDI.
Can someone confirm the pin swap on connector A (black), as I've read conflicting information:
Is it:
Extract Pin 16 and Pin 20. Put pin 16 into pin 20 slot, leave pin 20 loose. May have to cut / change the pin connector as its a different size?
(So pin 16 moves to pin 20)
OR
Extract Pin 16 and Pin 20. Cut the end off pin 20. Splice into pin 16, put back into pin 16 slot.
Put pin 16 into pin 20 slot, leave pin 20 loose.
Tape the bare end of 20.
(So 16 & 20 both goto pin 16, pin 20 is now empty).
If that doesn't work, try the swaps mentioned regarding plugs B / C?
@paulmk5gti what did you do, your car is same year as mine so will hopefully be the same.
EDIT: Found the answer in this thread:
http://vwnavi.com/volkswagen-factory-fit-navigation-systems/rns-510-mfd3-navi-system/9170-climatronic-screen-4-print.html
Now to work out the air quality sensor, again it doesnt seem clear on where the 3 pins goto:
--- Quote ---Quality Sensor Wiring (OPTIONAL if you bought the module that handles it):
On C Connector (black):
Pin 1 from Quality Sensor to Pin 20 (which we replaced by Pin 16 on Climatronic, remember?)
Pin 2 from Quality Sensor is Ground goes to Pin 19
Pin 3 from Quality Sensor to Pin 4 on Climatronic
--- End quote ---
Does this mean:
Pin 1 - connector A Pin 20
Pin 2 - connector A Pin 19
Pin 3 - Connector A Pin 4
:stupid:
Thanks

Matto:
All I did was cut both wires 16 and 20 then solder them the other way round. The connectors as mentioned are different sizes so cannot just be extracted from the plug and swapped. My understanding is you leave 20 loose so it can be connected to the air quality sensor but it is not required for the unit to function. It only allows the auto recirc function. All you will get is a fault message in VCDS saying something along the lines of air quality sensor open circuit.
Hope this helps.
jason_rmh:
Cheers @Matto. Did you install the air quality sensor? Do the 3 wires run to the same black connector at the panel (connector A)?
