Xenon headlights by retrofitlab
« on: March 13, 2014, 03:30:31 pm »
http://www.retrofitlab.com
Has anyone used this company for upgrading or indeed building xenon headlights from Halogen units?
Seems like a good deal if one is prepared to spend the time splitting existing Halogen headlamps and building up existing shells with the retrofitlab purchased parts.  I think they're in Holland.
I've my original GTI Halogen headlamps I'm tempted to retrofit with a Xenon projector kit. Definitely not easy but surely within my capabilities!

( I have no connection with retrofit  - just came across them on YouTube)

The splitting of the lamp lenses from the housing is going to be the trickiest bit. I'm interested to see if anyone else has attempted this first! Am I a chicken or what?! You bet!!

Their website has a super sped up Golf V headlamp tear down and xenon build video; it's not a GTI lamp but the transformation is the same.

end result looks pretty good to be fair, considering its a cheap mod, just alot of work involved. Would look better with GTi headlights

just realized the 30EUROS is just for the chrome rings around the projector, would need to consider the full kit cost and build time vs buying after market xenon look headlights

EDIT: its about 210EUROS delivered

At least the bits should all work together from these people; and 210 Euro's is not a bad price for all the parts. Its whether or not one has the skills and/or the cojones to split a perfectly good set of halogens!!

I split my stock halogen lights to paint the inners black. Works fine and got a good seal. It is a fiddle to open them with much sweat, but the rest is easy :)

Would these not be a better alternative

Ebay item number: 251363273297

Saves the hard work and risk of damaging a good pair of lights  :happy2:

i've done it on Bora..and it was awesome...used theretrofitsource.com and had h1 morimoto bixenon lens kit with philips h1..
really wide beam..maybe better than OEM...recently purchased the clear lens via them for E46 Bosch projector same on GTI xenons..bend the RV shield some adjustments and xenarc cool blue intense...alligning the lens is the most difficult bit..but it can be done..
