Which intake for gains, sound & reliability?

<< < (7/11) > >>

cuprajake:
The only problem I see with these is the oem maf pipe is oval and the maf is perfectly centred. The aftermarket intakes all use round pipes.

Msportman:
So does the Carbonni give any gains on stage 2+?? Is it for looks only?

Or should I opt for a VWR item.......any oppinions on noise for these?

I want good gains to compliment stage 2+ but without it being an unsociable car for everyday usage.

MC71:
^^^^ Carbonio is a useless piece of C/F bling, forget that as it serves no purpose.

The VWR (same as APR and newer ITG ones, rebranded IIRC) are the closed cannister ones, some say they are a little quieter, never tried a cannister one myself. Open filter would allow more air in, its all about the flow. My stage 2+ Eddy is more than happy with the REVO one, either that or the EVOMS IMHO.

^^^ agreed I've got a carbonio and it does nothing but look a bit snazzy!

Haha!

JMP:
Carbonio + freeflow filter added about 7hp to a stage 1 Leon Cupra. So maybe it gives about 5hp to k03 GTI. On the bonus side however, since it uses the factory MAF pipe, driveability is unaffected.
