As Betty posted, order one from Alex's shop and yes it can be bought from the VW main dealer or TPS. Treat the Cam Follower, along the DV, as a serviceable item and change it once a year, especially the CF on a mapped car.

What nonsense!  Neither the DV nor the CF are 'serviceable items' - and there is categorically NO need to replace either every year!

My GTI is remaped - done nearly 80k miles - and is still on its original DV and CF!

I presume you've at least checked the cam follower??

I will only change DV when it's fooked

I check the CF every other service.  I initally checked the CF every 6 months (took photos) and the DV every year - the diaphragm never has any splits - and to be honest, my butt dyno will tell me if it tears.  :booty:

The cam follower has not shown any difference in wear for say the last 65k miles (sods law when I next check it - it'll be fooked!  :ashamed:).  I've got a copy of the TSB, and I noticed over the first 15k from new, the dark grey coating gradually got 'polished' off (just like what happens on all cam lobes) - but there has never been any wear whatsoever.

This BS about replacing the CF came about via our ill-informed previous leader  :stupid: - in the same way he tried to peddle catch cans with the same level of viggor as suppling weed to school kids a few yards away from the school gates!  :fighting2:

Old saying - "if it aint broke - dont fix it".

im changing the d.v for piece of mind and for the latest version.....also the cam follower has prob never been changed so for sake of £30 might aswell get it done...to be safe
