Tuning info for newbie gti

Luke s:
Hi I'm after some advice regarding gti tuning Im new to mk5s had other vws mostly g40s though so different ball game

I'm wanting to go for a remap but to make sure that I'm taking the car with full potential rather than getting it mapped and then getting told ahh you should have done this should have done that

I'm totally standard at the moment and I'm looking at stage 1 which I believe is around 240-260 depending on each car am I correct?im not sure on torque figures but am I correct in thinking just under 300?

Right my question is,is there any hardware upgrades that I could do that would maximise the remap and essentially stop me from having to have it mapped again once I've realised I should have done something else 1st

I've just done pcv and diverter valve had those done while apart for rattling timing chain along with fuel pump follower so there a couple of bits I don't need to worry about

Any help greatly received and sorry I have used the search but difficult to no what keywords to use
Cheers
Luke

Wooosh:
Your power figures will depend on your modifications & the tuner, get yourself a decent intake ITG/Revo/Forge/Evoms, Milltek/APR/BCS turbo back exhaust system & Airtec/Forge/THS intercooler for starters.

GrayMK5GTI:
If your after cheap gains, a panel filter and removing the pre-cat would set you back less than £100 all in all (less if you do the pre-cat yourself).

Or go for all out performance as Wooosh suggested above.

Depending on condition, fuel quality, tuner etc. . you should make around 245-250bhp on a car with the mods ive suggested above. I got 248bhp and 311lb/ft of torque from R-Tech on my old GTI, although since then Niki has improved his mapping techniques so the tiv mapping may see you a couple more HP

As I thought well tbh seams that exhaust intake and intercooler aren't worth it for possible gains if bought new those parts are like 2k so looks like I'll be sticking to a basic stage1 remap

Thanks for your help guys much appreciated I knew I should have bought an ed30 haha
Cheers

Just get the R-Tech map and spend money on brakes and suspension , no point having the extra power without a front brake upgrade and decent shocks/springs, stiffer ARB's  :happy2:
