Hi all, I have just taken my car in for a full service, MOT and Cam Belt change. Have driven it home and a light has come on the dash. My manual says this light is "Fault in the exhaust system - go to a qualified workshop" Whereas when I search online the same light says "Engine Emission Malfunction - bring in for service". Firstly does anyone know which is correct and secondly what does it is likely to mean? How serious and how quickly should I get it back into the garage? Thanks

I had this light on my car about 3 months after I bought it and ended up needing a new engine but on the other hand could be a simple and less costly issue. Get it back to the garage ASAP as if it was not there before your trip to the garage then they need to sort it for you.

Sounds like the dealers forgotten to plug a sensor back in or broken the top sensor just under the engine cover...

Thanks Sainsteve - how big a deal is it? Can I wait and take it back on Monday and drive it this weekend or take it straight back in and use husband's car? (his is not as cool !!)

If the car runs and drives fine and is correct on its lubricants and fluids then you should be safe to still use it.

If you are lucky  you could try PMing someone with a vcds cable close to you for a quick scan before Monday. Will take less than 5 minutes and may give you piece of mind.

Yes I did think of asking someone with a cable but I have only just joined and don't think I can PM yet...

I am around Guildford/Godalming/Farnham/Camberley/Adershot area do you know if anyone has a cable in any of these locations?

Sorry, old topic... this link is dead now. Is there still a list of uber-friendly people who are able to help?  :happy2:
