Front facing Evo turbo...
chudds:
I have just gone stage 2+ and absolutely love it but my friend suggested that I remove the battery and install a fq300 Evo turbo facing forwards in is place instead of just sticking a k04 on it...
Now please no comments saying just put a k04 on it as i want some thing differant!
Now if I go for a fq300 turbo it's much more reliable then running the k03 at full whack. Now what I'm thinking is I should be able to still run the apr stage 2 map as it's just going to use the n75 to control the boost and it's similar flowing to what the k03 is producing it just doesn't have to work as hard...
But then there is potential to run an apexi boost controller and go higher then 300, but also I should be able to run the k04 software as again flow similar to a k04 on stage 1 say...
Can any one find fault with this also can any one point me in the direction how to run a Boost controller and delete the n75 and run an external waste gate on the tubular manifold?!
GrayMK5GTI:
Would the Evo turbo fit on the manifold?
If you want to go different, there are plenty of turbos that bolt straight on and will be supported by APR.
I doubt APR do an "off the shelf" map for a K03 GTI with an Evo's turbo bolted on, you would probably have to go for a custom map.
Using your K03's map with a boost controller just wouldn't work properly, the spool characteristics would be well out for starters.
I like your thinking with going for something different, but it would be a right PITA :scared:
chudds:
No it'd be a tubular manifold to mount it at the side... Then leaves me the ability to go to other bigger garret turbos if I wanted.
Wouldn't I need stand alone ecu to run a custom map?! Or can it be written and flashed?! As for a pain in the arse my friend builds manifolds and alsorts of fabrication and I do cad drawings in return for him... So nothing is impossible.
Would apr dignify me with a respone if I emailed them directly?!

Tbh it's a waste of time emailing APR,get a custom map from rtech..
chudds:
I shall flick them an email :)
Something similar to this but a mirror image...
