Dirty black exhaust

Going to have to try something on my exhaust tips (scirocco, don't hate me I'm here for the RNS510 threads)
They're proper black but honestly don't know what condition they're truthfully in, it currently appears to be corroded but willing to give it a go.

My Scirocco ones seemed to be stainless steel, polished them up once and despite a lack of washing for the moment still are pretty good ... the GTIs are mild steel - so will always go back to being rusty and tatty. Spent ages sanding them all to make them almost brand new, sealed them with a decent heat resistant metal wax, no luck still.

I used plain old Autosol on mine... came up well.
