I did another picture!

Hopefully a few more proper updates coming in the next few months.
Also fitting the subframe deadset kit and new rear arm bushes tomorrow! Which is SO nice then I can drive the car like I want to again. The subframe issue has been bugging me for months and really knocked my confidence, every time you slam on the anchors, the subframe shifts and knocks the tracking off.

Dave J:
Hmmm - very interesting! That sounds oh-so familiar - subframe movement. I've felt my car feel a bit 'wandery' on the motorway - I know the superpro balljoints are supposed to make it feel a bit more that way, but I have wondered about the car tugging around the place a bit on braking (when suspension, top-mounts, discs, pads, etc, & alignment are brand spanking new...).

Is it the Tyrolsport kit you have gone for? Is Alex at AKS doing the work for you? Wondering if to try someone else for another opinion on mine...

Cool picture BTW!

xjay1337:
It has seemed to help with steering immediacy but I also had the alignment re-done the day after so can't really comment.
I still get the odd noise but it's nowhere near as bad as before so I'll take any improvement I can get to be honest.
It was the Tyrolsport Kit. Olly B helped fit it.

You don't really need another opinion mate, if it's clunking then it's going to be the subframe so I would suggest just getting it done if you are suffering.  :happy2:

Sooo couple of things have gone on which are relatively exciting... I guess?

With the help of a couple of mates we tried to do the rear arm bushes and replace them with Powerflex Polyurethane bushes. However the bolt was completely seized and we could not get it out for love nor money.  So I'm going to buy a new bolt so we can cut it out and go again. When we do it again we are going to do a carbon clean.

We did manage to fit the Tyrolsport Deadset kit as well as new bolts all around and that seems to have cured the REALLY annoying clunks and subframe shifting I was getting.

Went to the Autosport International Show on Saturday and bagged myself the following at the DemonTweeks stand.

- Schroth Clubsport ASM 4 Point Harnesses x 2
- FIA Approved Mounting plates x 4
- FIA Approved eyelets x 4

Harnesses were supposed to be £140 + vat each, mounting plates were 5 quid or so and eyelets a couple of quid. With postage and VAT it would have all together been around £350.
Got the lot for £294 delivered, so that's really good deal!

Except in black - I'll be painting the harness bar blue so didn't want to do too much.

And also on the Sunday I managed to get myself a cracking deal!

Complete set of Golf R Replica wheels
4 x 245-40-18 Dunlop Direzza 03g , all pretty much new.
2 x 225-40-18 Vredestein Sessanta, about half worn.
Managed to fit everything in the boot! So that was fun. 200 mile round trip.

Sold the wheels and tyres cheaply to friends, as the wheels do not fit over my brakes and I don't want to have to run spacers (I've sold all 4 of mine).

I'm glad the Tyrolsport Deadset kit sorted the subframe issue.

Thanks man! I'm glad too :-) does make some odd noises but nowhere near as bad as before and have to be proper hooning it.

Did another little mod as well... looks minor, had to take half the interior apart, got a lot of scuffs on my fingers lol
