Black Audi A4 B8
xjay1337:
Thought I would share a quick detail I spent a very loooooooong time doing.
It's my partners car, 2010 Audi A4 B8 with some smart modifications.
I remember one of the first times I met her she asked for my help washing her car and I witnessed her pull out a tiny little bucket and a gritty sponge. :jumping: :jumping:
Soon after much moaning from me she's got it down pat now but unfortunately a lot of damage had been inflicted by someone else who had seemingly gotten very buzz happy with a machine polisher!!!
So I booked a day off work and spent what turned out to be 16 hours on the exterior in one sitting... even after the weekend break I'm still buggered.
As was up against the time didn't really spend a lot of time taking pictures but I got a few.
The car was washed in the usual method of course and wheels were cleaned.
Car wasn't particularly in need of claying and had no tar so straight inside to be dried and taped up.
Typical marks over the whole car:
And after a 2 stage machine polish using Scholl S3 XXL followed by S40 on a variety of pads from the likes of Scholl , Lake County and Chemical Guys:
Bonnet done:
50/50 on the drivers door:
Someone scratched her rear quarter panel (suspect at a meet unfortunately).
No bother...

And finally some finished pictures!
What do you think of the newly installed LED light wall?

The car was wiped down with IPA / Eraser where necessary.
The bonnet and boot were given 2 coats of Cquartz UK.. unfortunately where she parks her car birds tend to take a liking to the paint. the bonnet was resprayed previously and not the best job and etches very easily so anything that we can do to protect it...
Rest of the car was coated with FinishKare (FK) 1000p which is a good go-to wax, and gives 6 months or so of protection.
Some finished pics.

GS WAX:
Nice work,
How do you find S3xxl ?, I got a sample a few weeks ago, impressive product, not as humidity sensitive as S3, finishes down so sharp too, cant make my mind up between that and megs 101 for vag paint.
Quick tip.. get an old or a new beach/drying towel, open bonnet and place across scuttle and up the windscreen, saves a lot of clean up time after :happy2:

Nice :happy2:

Also, in the reflections you are female, and skinnier?

I do prefer it to the standard S3, we use Scholl polishes mainly but of course have loads of different ones. It finishes just as nicely as S3 which on most German paint means you only need to do minimal refining, but does have that little extra cut which does help meaning you don't need to do a second pass where as with standard S3 you would perhaps need to.
Normally the go to is an orange hexlogic (or similar from another brand) and s3 xxl and then s40 and a green hexlogic (or similar from another brand) on vag paint and that works well...sometimes bump to a yellow hex!
And cheers for the tip, will try the towel :happy2: :happy2: :happy2:
