OEM Alloys
« on: October 20, 2014, 11:15:31 am »
Looking at replacing the stock steels (I believe 15") with a set of OEM alloys

Does anyone have a list of OEM alloys/styles that will be a straight replacement for the steels?

Well after doing a bit more reading.

Am I correct in assuming the stock steel wheels I have on are 15" 5x112 (MK5 2004 2.0 SDI) ?

So the alloys I need to look for are 15/16" 5x112 ?

Still getting the hang of car wheel sizes, crotch rocket sizes are so much simpler  :stupid:

Yes 5x112 is the PCD so that is a definate, you can also fit some Audi wheels or go aftermarket but just depends on what you want to go for really?.. 17" and 18" are the most common choice, I'd recommend going for 17" as a nice upgrade, also bear in mind the offset if you go down Audi or aftermarket route.

Maybe download the Mk5's brochure from VW so you can see what other models of the Mk5 came spec'd with... http://www.volkswagen.co.uk/used/old-brochure

Checked on the brochure, only wheels it lists as an option for mine is the 16" Hockenheim, so I guess I'll have a look at those.

I'm only really looking for something a bit better then the stock steels, boring I know but I'm trying to keep the car simple yet do minor mods/improvements here and there so I don't need to do too much to sell it in a couple of years once I've built no claims up again so I can pick up a proper golf  :jumping:

:edit:

I'm assuming any 16" 5x112 VW OEM alloys will fit?

It doesn't mean those are the only ones you can fit, just thought might offer some ideas  :happy2:

That indeed is a great link! I didn't realise there were so many OEM wheels!
