DSG concerns, what's yours like?

(1/3) > >>

Mickmk4:
So I have an edition 30  it's. 2007 on a 56 reg and a DSG gearbox. It needed a new mechatronic unit a couple of month ago so I had a new one ordered and replaced along with oil, filters etc. the old unit used to kangaroo in reverse and jump as you were pulling away in 1st. Anyway I got the car back just over 2 weeks ago and all seemed well until I approached a roundabout and slowed down but seen a gap so went, at this point I was probably doing around 10mph and it jumped into 1st and almost snapped my neck, it has calmed down a lot since then and adapted to my drive style but it still does it and more so in manual without me downshifting to first, the other thing I was not to sure on was how long it takes to engage the clutch whe you remove your foot from the brake mine seems to take a second or so to start rolling? Is all this normal and am I just being paranoid? Or should I go back to the garage with it?
Many thanks in advance  :happy2:

Redemption:
Sounds fairly normal to me. Both cars I've had with DSG have done the same, especially dropping into 1st or 2nd when rolling onto a roundabout/junction and you give the throttle a tickle.

Mickmk4:
Ah right, thanks redemption that's put things at ease in my mind a little bit

Little_Dave:
Taking a second to start moving after lifting off the brake is probably the hill assist kicking in, does it on mine sometimes but more pronounced if I'm pressing firmer on the brake beforehand

dazza:
I don't drop into 1st anymore, if the revs drop low enough it will go into 1st anyway.

If you are at a stand still lightly press the break and get her creeping. Then when you hit the accelerator clutch will already be engaged.
