So it's the bulbs and not the ballasts that will wear quickly?

This was my thought too - do you just switch to Auto when it's dark (to avoid them coming on for Auto, off for Sidelights and immediately back on for Dipped Beams)?

EDIT: reading online, yes, it's the bulbs that wear out.

When I need the lights turned on it's usually dark enough for the Auto function to activate them. Just rarely I do need to turn them on selecting the dipped beam position.

Great work on getting the xenons for that money, ive been looking around but people seem to want silly money for genuine sets these days. Maybe I need to start searching the scrap yards

A relative owns a garage and he did it for me, but from what I heard, it's a simple enough job.
Nothing can really go wrong if your DV is faulty, it's just you'll lose that lovely boost... :P
