DMF/ starter probs North Birmingham

Hi guys,
First post on this board, Golf mk5 GT 2.0 D-- starter motor spinning on startup, AA said it might be faulty flywheel. Any recommendations to reliable garages/mechanics in Brum (North), also possible cost? Just got fleeced on a new head replacement can do without it again.
