Boot handle not closing

Hi folks,

Apologies for another boot handle related question - i did search but could find an answer.

The handle on my 56 plate GT won't close completely, kinda stops at 3/4 - can anyone advise how i can get it back to its former glory, I'm assuming its just gunked up?!

Took mine off Friday, as I had painted up a new one. It would take about 5 seconds to return to the closed/flat point.
It looks very gunked up and the metal pins it rotates on look dryer than I'd like.
I take it that since the colder weather started its got to this point ?

yeah I'm thinking mine is gunked up and the cold is making it worse. Will get an air line in it and flush out the crap.
