Das-6 pro polisher setup?
jimmy-s3:
I've just bought a das-6 pro polisher for my black Mk5..
As a beginner, I'm struggling to decide which pads and compounds to buy to get me going?
Any advice is welcome!
Thanks

The paint on these is quite hard so you need a fairly aggressive setup.
Personally I like the microfibre pads with Megs 105/205 or Menzerna FG400. I also find the chemical guys Hex-Logic pads very good also used with the above polishes.
Orange Hex-Logic with FG400
Or
Microfibre cutting disc FG400
Or
Microfibre cutting disc Megs 105
+
Microfibre finishing disc Megs 205
Any of these combos would do do well, I find the Megs 105 does need refining afterwards with the Megs 205 whereas the Menzerna FG400 doesn't but it does give a slightly better finish after because of the refining.

I'd also recommend the Chemical Guys Hex-Logic pads heres a guide to them :happy2:

Also the Chemical Guys V Line polishes are excellent (and smell nice) too...

So should I go for the hex pads in the hard paint range?
Am I best of using a microfibre pad as a finishing pad rather then a hex pad for finishing?
Also, would I need a 4" or 6" pad?
dansmith180:
For your polishing pad you'll want a hard one
You can use either microfibre or hex
And assuming you've got the standard backing plate you'll want 5" pads
