DSG issue. Clutch pack? (Oil changed not mechatronic either)

<< < (3/7) > >>

Mandy:
Sorry to hear about your DSG woes, I've had mechs unit then clutch packs replaced on the Eddy, clutch packs replaced on the R.

So your story so far... You took your car to VW, they looked at the symptoms and confirmed it was the mechs unit so sent it away for repair to then say actually it wasn't a faulty mechs afterwards? Did they charge you anything for this?

AndyBrown:
Heres the full story, I hope you haven't got anything you need to be doing!

Got the car from a garage called dubbers, on the journey home in traffic I noticed the the jerking, at first I thought it was me not used to the power or an automatic.

I done a bit of searching and reading on here and had the dsg reset which never sorted the problem. I was convinced it was the mechatronic, argued back and forth with Dubbers and they were adamant it wasn't, they then reset the dsg and recommend the next step was oil change, then clutch pack and finally mechatronic, which they were expecting me to fund the bill for.

I wasn't happy with this and spoke to a gearbox specialist and he said take it to vw, their diatnostics are better and will be able to pin point the problem. So i booked I'm for a diagnostics with vw and told them I thought it was the mechatronic (looking back I wish I hadn't told them my suspicions). Vw confirmed it was and quoted me £2,200 to replace it.

I got back on to dubbers with the results from vw, got a bit heated and I wrote a letter threatening them with court action, in the end it was agreed they'd take the car in, remove the unit to be sent for repair and out it all back together with fresh oil.

The unit came back tested and it was in perfect working order, there was no fault with it.

Dubbers thinks it's the clutch packs as its only on 1st and reverse, I presume those gears are on the same half of the gearbox.

What were the symptoms of your clutch packs on the R Mandy?
With this its jerking once the gearbox has warmed up at 1st and reverse, even when the car is rolling slowly and I give it the slightest bit of acceleration it jerks. Nothing else once I'm out of first the cars fine. Also hill starts are a nightmare, car starts rolling back unless I give it some and look like knob bouncing like I can't drive!

Jonneh:
I know that my friend had a problem exactly the same in his edition 30 and he had to get his clutch packs replaced. I had the same issue in mine and mine was diagnosed the mechantronics! Both sorted the issues so it could be a mixture of both!
Having said that though is it Dubbers in Huddersfield? Having had dealing with them in the past and hugely involved in the Hudds VW scene they are well known for being cowboys! My best mate bought a car from them and it broke on the way home. There are various stories to that effect I know. So I hope you can get something sorted dude!

AndyBrown:
Yep, that'll be them. He was quick enough to offer to buy it back £1500 less within a couple of month which I wasn't best pleased about, threatened court said I'd be going for a full refund and he soon offered to fix it.

Was you mates car a Leon cupra? Sure I read about that on another forum. (After I'd bought the car I googled them!)

Mandy:
I didn't really have any jerkiness or kangarooing, just a click noise as the gearbox geared down from 3rd into 2nd... If the mechs is not at fault though then I guess the next thing to look at would prob be clutch packs or flywheel perhaps? Have Dubbers offered to replace the clutch packs FOC?

Does the car have decent VW service history, if so could ask VW for some goodwill, that was what I did with my Ed.
