£1000 to spend
« on: January 12, 2015, 12:58:01 pm »
I have just bought an 05 plate shadow blue gti 110,000 on the clock with full leather and manual box. I've got £800 to spend, I would like remap, induction and anything else you guys recommend? I have got the car booked in for a 20k service. Next week. Thanks in advance!

I think VW will replace the coil packs for free under a recall. Certainly did with mine.

Do the DV yourself, part is maybe £40 http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,89715.msg907250.html#msg907250

Your coil packs are possibly under warranty, google VW and search for their recalls page. Just put in your registration and it'll let you know straight away.

Cam follower can be done as a diy and if not I got mine done for €65 here in Ireland.

All said and done you might only be down £100 from your budget if you're smart about it!

Good luck!

Thanks for the info luke, much appreciated! Looks like my coil packs have been done already :) I'll give the dv a bash, might get the cam follower done with someone with a little more experience though!
