Any ideas what it could be? (Steering Related)

Michael.:
Hi guys,

Last night I was coming home from work and I think I drove over a rock or brick in the road and its hit the front of my car and then got dragged under and seems to have hit something on the front axel maybe causing it to snap. I heard a really loud 'prong' sound.

Now when I turn the wheel in both directions it makes a tapping sound and also when I'm driving over rough road/bumps it is rattling like metal on metal.

Does anyone know what this could be? I'll be taking it to a garage on my next day off but i'd like an idea before I go.

Thanks

Perhaps a drop link on the anti roll bar, from what you've described it could be that

muff1991:
maybe top mount? bearing is the mount may have flattened and spring pronged?

xjay1337:
Jack it up and have a look?

could be anything!!!

CV joints/driveshafts/drop links / tie rods / undertray caught in something..

muff1991:
as Jay said, probs best to Jack it up and have a look. before you jack her up though, lift the bonnet and bounce on the front end of the side that's noisy and see if you hear anything making funny noised there.
