Car accelerates by itself ?

Hi all I'm new here and wondered if anyone could help me. I have a 2008  golf gti 2.0t fsi with 62,000 on the clock, my problem is the car seems to accelerate by itself when idil, it reaches 1500 rpm then drops, some times  reaches to 2000 rpm, the power still seems to be there aswell, I have checked the pcv valve by taking of the oil cap, the car started to splutter so I assume everything's fine there, just hoping anyone can help ???? Thanks

I've had the same thing and it was the PCV.

I had the same issue and as said it was indeed the PCV. VW also cleaned the throttle body too as they claimed it could also have been that. Either way it worked and stopped the problem!
