Question About Using A Clay Mitt?

(1/2) > >>

H18Golf:
So now that the weather is better (well meant to be anyway), I fancy giving the car a clay.  Been looking into getting a clay mitt and wondered what people use as a lube?

Don't really fancy shelling out a lot on a lube but want something that will do the job.  Also heard other people saying they just use regular car shampoo and warm water like if they were going to wash their car.  If this is the case can I just use cheap stuff out of Asda or similar instead of a pricey shampoo?

Thanks

They are a bit of a life saver to speed the day up

Shampoo is more than ok, just make sure its not got any wax or anything in

Not sure if its the best but i normally give it a strip wash (proper stuff or fairy) depending on wjat ive got to hand, then refresh the bucket and use the same again, way i see it a more agressive shampoo is ok in the detaring stage

You're fine to use shampoo with a clay mitt.
any shampoo will be fine. The slicker/more sudsy the better.

i would not recommend claying without polishing as you nearly always leave marring I've found. Ultimately its abraisive and hard so its bound to.

GTiBlues:
I've just learnt about these mitts, which brand have you gone for? Also what shampoo? I was looking at the G3 kits detox and mitt

Stu08:
I use the G3 mitt with Meguiars Gold Class shampoo; works a treat and saves a lot of time.
