Is that a Nova (GTE/GSI?) side by side with you on the straight in the 11th photo?

Thanks!

Yes, that's an Opel Corsa (Vauxhall Nova in the UK) with an engine swap from a Vectra 2.0 16V 136 CV. With semi-slick tyres and its lightweight can do the same lap time as mine. I just beat him in the straights at the moment.

There used to be a GSI with a 2.0 16v red top conversion knocking about near me a long time ago. Very quick, but kept breaking driveshafts etc. I haven't seen a Nova on the road for about 10 years!

That's a track toy from a friend, so he just uses it for these events. There are still a few well preserved Corsas/Novas being used here from enthusiasts but I can still see the odd not so well preserved Corsa/Nova driven by some old man.

I think the majority of them over here rotted away many years ago. Very rare now. Always triggers a bit of nostalgia when I see one though, reminds me of being in awe of a 1.4 SRI as a teenager

Shoduchi:
Here the weather is more forgiving and only a few mountain regions require the use of salt on the roads in the Winter.

I was too young to care much for this generation. The next one was much more remarkable for me. Specially the 1.6 GSI.
