I use Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2 on track, they are fairly light, 8.2 kgs, very strong, they took some hardcore abuse and they're a lot cheaper than Ultras. Maybe they are worth a look, knowing they use them on BTCC. ;)
I use OZ Ultras on street only, with Pilot Super Sport.
I had some experience with a lot of tyres lately, but I only judge performance (I don't care about noise/fuel efficiency or crap like that  :signLOL:). I can say that PSS are the best road tyres i ever used followed by GY Eagle Asymmetric 2.
For track, to really feel the potential of your car and it's mods, i'll advice to use a real semislick tyre, that is still road legal and they are in a different league, if not in a different sport than PSS. You have good breaks, but for sure their potential can only be shown with a good tyre. On my car I'd use real racing slicks, but that will catapult me in a higher class on time attack events and they wear out very fast.
Anyway, there are some good semislicks out there who do the job, all of them are gamechanging compared to a normal tyre and still road legal. I used Toyo R888, Dmack Trackday, Federal FZ-201 and driven cars equipes with PS Cup 2, and Federal RS-R. I'd say that in terms of wear and performance dead last are DMACK, they only lasted 3 trackdays and their performance is equal with Toyo and Federal RS-R (good think they are almost as cheap as RS-R). A bit better are Toyo R888 with the same performance as Federal RS-R, but Federal RS-R have twice the life, the longest life in a semislick tyre, and they are cheap (only Nankang may be cheaper, but i have no experience with them). Then come CUP 2, a bit better performance, but I don't know nothing about wear (i heard they are good). Their sidewall is pretty soft compared to other racing tires, which will result in less steering feedback. The best in terms of performance are Federal FZ-201 which grip and grip and grip until u fall out of the seat, but now they are harder to get and expensive. They wear out faster then RS-R, but they have a fair amount of life for the performance they show, wear is better than Toyo.

I hope this mini review will help u decide, but i'll say again, if u will buy a second set of wheels for track only, get a set of track tyres also (they shave more seconds than a coilover suspension). ;)

Great review! Thank you again! :drinking:

Do you know if the TD 1.2 can fit with Brembo 18Z calipers without spacers?

Yes, they will fit. TD have great break clearance, even better than Ultras with the same ET45. ;)

Thanks buddy! I've seen TD at 50% discount from demon tweaks and I was almost going to order them with Federel RS-R. I think I'll leave that deal for when I sort my current tune. I'm not getting the feedback I was expecting from my tuner so I might try another like Revo. Maybe I'll get the VWR CAI to remove that power restriction I have at the moment too.

Updated the list of mods to do in the 1st post.

Still not ordered:
  • Interior detail cleaning
  • Exterior detail cleaning
  • Tweak the current tune to stage 2+ or get the map from a different tuner
  • SuperPro adjustable ball joints (TRC0003)
  • TyrolSport deadset rigid subframe collar kit (TSDSKVW)
  • VW Racing cold air intake (VWR12G5GT)
  • Michelin Pilot Super Sport for daily driving
  • Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 or Federal 595 RS-R for track use

Found another picture of the track day when I was returning to the paddock after a round.

OMG! At first look i thought that is a LE Mans winning Martini Racing Porsche 936.  :jumping:
Then I realized it's a Radical SR3 painted in Martini Racing colors. A great track car.  :driver:

I'm sure you'll get it sorted with the tuner, then i think TD with RS-R is the best value for money out there, serious wheels.  :congrats:

I hope I can get the map sorted. The car has more power to give.

Ordered:
  • TyrolSport deadset rigid front subframe collar kit (TSDSKVW)
  • TyrolSport deadset rigid rear subframe collar kit (TSDSKVWR)

That's it for now. Next month I'll order the SuperPro ajustable ball joints.

And my orders arrived today.

2x TyrolSport deadset rigid front subframe collar kit (TSDSKVW) (the extra kit is for the GT Sport)
1x TyrolSport deadset rigid rear subframe collar kit (TSDSKVWR)

Also received a box of pliers bought with a good discount off ebay. I now have pliers that I don't know what's their exact purpose... At least they're all stored in a box. :phew:

Next order will be the SuperPro adjustable ball joints (TRC0003) and that should be the last suspension mod I'm planning to do.

I hope so! I wanted the remote action cable-type flexible hose clamp pliers so a friend recommended me this set that was with a great price at the time.

The one on the cable has saved my knuckles a few times. When i had to change a coolant pipe on the beater i doubt i would have got it done without it.

Yeah, that pliers is really great to work in the engine bay. It was very handy when I repositioned the DV to the front of the engine. I used my friend's pliers then.

I've got a very similar set (if not the same) and it's a life saver! Makes working on the stupid clamps VW use so much easier, saves so much time.

Moving over to Flickr, sorry for the broken picture links!
