Fwiw fitting the superpro (passat) lca and bjs onto my stock gti hubs changed the toe enormously also! Think the cars with the heavy 345mm brakes got alloy arms and hubs to offset some of the weight gain.

Not all. The R32 didn't get any alloy part on the front suspension, just got a rear alloy subframe to offset a bit of weight gain due to the AWD system. Just the S3 and the Cupra got front alloy parts.

Passat was mostly 312mm brakes as per the GTI, and the R32 got cast steel hubs.   I wonder if the Jetta got alloy parts?   I think it VW just consider the Passat and Jetta more 'premium' than the Golf.  How about the 6R vs S3?

Nah, Jettas got the same parts as Golfs did. The 6R is just like the mk5 R32 with cast parts. The S3 and the Cupra, as I previously wrote, got the more 'race' oriented alloy parts.

VW cheaped out on us  :grin:

Alloy has different NVH characteristics as well as lighter weight, which is probably why the 'premium' cars got it vs steel for the humble Golfs.

Should be something that you fell in steering with all the parts changed at one time.


I also changed my hubs, wishbones, dampers, struts, wheel bearings and a few other parts once everything was apart anyway… Just makes no sense to me why my Vagbremtechnic adapters won't fit with my 986 front calipers from the Porsche Boxster - Hopefully a solution will come soon!  :rolleye:

That is a weird one.  Hope you sort it mate.   I don't really understand why the Passat spindles cause problems when everything lines up perfectly with the standard brakes and the 340mm MK7 brake setup etc.  Strange!!

Yeah, it feels light like before fitting big brakes. So much better now. :grin:

Like Pudding said, it's weird that you had that issue. If it doesn't fit with your alloy hubs have you tested it in your cast hubs? :confused:

Finally had time to do the tracking with the new suspension mods. I also had to raise the car due to tyre rubbing on the wing arches under hard cornering. I think now it's like stock height. The front camber is now -1,0º -> -1,21º with the SuperPro ball joints set for the maximum negative camber. This change was noticeable on cornering, which is nice. I think it also shouldn't increase much the inner tyre wear.



I finally could get the SuperPro rear adjustable drop links fitted. Initially I got the wrong kit because there was a mistake in the SuperPro Europe catalogue. Had to contact SuperPro Australia to sort this problem. They contacted their European branch and I after a couple of weeks after my emails I got the right kit. So the European tuning store sent me the kit listed on European SuperPro site which was TRC1045. That kit doesn't have a long enough bolt on the end that fixes on the rear hub. The catalogue is now corrected. :smiley:

Why not get the Audi TT suspension arms - with adjustable camber and get more than 2 degrees of camber?
I promise it won't affect the tire wear  :innocent: - as I've been running them for years and I don't see anything wrong with the tires. Oh... for the track more than 3 degrees would be ideal but you can't get that with OEM suspension parts.

I'm surprised you are not running Ground Control camber plates.  2.5 degrees camber available from those, plus another degree from the SuperPro BJs.  The camber plates are so much more than just camber though.  Spherical bearings supporting the damper rods makes a huge difference to damper response and cornering control, especially if there are bumps mid corner.   

I have a set of them waiting go on, but they are 15mm shallower than the OEM top mounts, so I need an 200mm long front spring to maintain the same ride height.  I don't want to use a helper spring setup, I hate them!!

I also raised my ride height to approx 10mm lower than stock.  I wasn't getting arch rubbing, but I just like to keep the stock roll center and suspension travel, ground clearance etc  :happy2:   It feels a lot better raised up.  More responsive to turn in and less 'jiggly' over bumps.

I like the rear drop links  :happy2:  Sealed ball joints instead of Spherical bearings.  You don't want spherical bearings on exposed suspension parts, they just don't last!

I’m sure it is no small coincidence that the former GT3 development guy who moved from Porsche to VW chose to use 2 degrees on the Clubsport S. Not sure what toe settings they use on the CS.
