touran owner looking for handling info (newbie)

ok so apparently passat r36 rarb is a decent cheap option to go for  :happy2:

Hi olethalb,
The V1s can be a superb fast road suspension as long as you don't tax them with heavy wheels or heavy r32 brakes.

And they go lower than their stated drop which looks good but handling suffers a lot.

I'd be tempted to raise the suspension to how it's designed to operate, forget a rear uprated arb but add an uprated adjustable from arb and set it to firm.

The caster tweak with the superpro rear anti lift bush helps dial out understeer and is welcomed.

Nice tyres and grippy pads will compliment.

Cheers.

olethalb:
This is my old touran tdi on ap as low as they go

My current touran on kw as low as they can go

They are pretty similar heights, maybe 10mm difference but the ap handled much much better than the kw do, like i say raising is not an option especially as the ap performed much better at their lowest setting

The rarb i may as well do for £60

I'll get the tt top mounts for sure, i've also been in contact with dpm about stiffer springs  :happy2:

olethalb:
fitted new AP's at the weekend with new topmounts and some 19x8.5 pheaton helios wheels, handling is greatly improved

will add R36 rear arb asap and see how that works out, then look into anti lift kit and then front arb if it still needs help

 :happy2:

olethalb:
just to keep this going, really loving the AP over the KW corner much flatter  :happy2:

i've since added powerflex DB bush insert, passat R36 rear ARB (not as uprated as i was led to belive - still hollow but the wall thickness is 3.6mm opposed to 3mm for gti) i notice a slight difference with RARB - unsure if it's better because it's slightly thicker or because it's brand new with new bushings / mounts

i've also got an uprated front ARB on the way and new ball joints, drop links and track rod ends to go on then another 4 wheel allign

it's very close to where i want it, hoping the front arb and refresh will do the trick, i'll also add powerflex anti lift kit at some stage too.
