edtion 30 changed my thermostat now running bang on 90 after going  up and down. At it  for about 8 hours never again worse job on car I have done. no why they charge 250 to 300 now good look to anyone who has a go.

Did mine a few weeks ago on my eddy, took me a hour and half but I am a tech and I've done a few. Pretty easy once you know what your doing with right tools  :happy2:

Mine needs doing too .. but I don't wanna pay £300 haha .. but looking at my history it's gunna need timing belt and water pump. .so best.doing.it all at once?

As I said mate I'm a vw master tech so done a few of these now and yes 1.5 to do mine the other week, can post my labour times if ya like from work;)

Sorry but more than a 1.5 hour job to do it properly

to jack my car up and take bottom and top engine cover off drain coolant and refill coolant at end of job run it top coolant back up took over half an hour.So you must off done job in 50 mins you must be some mechanic.

Post as many labour times as you like
Its much more than a 1.5 hour job to do it even half properly unless you threw it all back together like 99% of vw techs do  :laugh:

Im a time served engineer plus rebuilt cars from the ground up so know my way round a spanner or 2  :rolleye:

For the main stat its not so much about how long it takes to hit 90 - warm up is more effected by the inline regulators, its about if once its up to 90 whether it stays there or not.  Once at 90 the needle should never drop.  If your needle drops off 90 once its up to temp then you need to replace the main stat.  If it takes a long time to warm up but once it does the needle stays put you need to do the inline regulator/s.....

Went for a drive to the next village (16km round trip) the coolant temp on polar fis floated between 69 and 73. As i was pulling into the garage the temperature started to increase the gauge is nearly at 90 and polar fis shows 81.
