Whats the best Oil to use for the GTi ?

It says its Longlife and it is Synthetic.

I should be alright ya ?

Since you folks scared the sh*t out of me, im still going for a oil change, filter, book it in for Wednesday next week at VW.

Halfords website even does the hardwork by letting you put your Reg number in and then selecting the CORRECT oil unlike the one you chose.

You should have picked this one.

1l per 600 miles is a helluva lot. By that reckoning, my car would have gone through 30l in less than two years - enough to make anyone concerned about oil consumption. Over 15k miles, my car has used 1l of oil (not incl oil changes).

change the oil yourself mate , it ll cost about £70 , get the correct oil from halfords cost £65 (4l+1l) and a filter from the dealers £6 , take an hour tops
