I'd be interested to know if there are any out there that aren't a fortune as in the past I have gone through on an audi with a DA.

Burning through VAG paint with a DA is quite an acheivment since its virtually impossible, was it on an edge or panel gap by any chance?

Everyone is afraid of going through the clearcoat, but no one seems to know anyone who actually has done it. The risk does exist when you work close to sharp edged plastic parts such as bumpers with a rotary machine - just use some common sense and you'll be fine with them too. With the DA even that is virtually impossible like it was said above. : )

I personally gave up using the DA as it is not effective/fast enough to work on VAG paints. If I had to use a DA machine, it would be a Rupes type large throw one. Cleanyourcar.co.uk sells the DAS-21 machine which has received lots of positive feedback - that too is way more powerful than the basic DAS-6 which basically only tickles your GTI paint.

Ive always had good results using Megs G220 V2 I think and there own Microfibre polishing system. easy to use and like I say gets good results for me.
