Ive been stuck in limbo a bit with the MK5 lately. I had been weighing up whether to sell up and go for a 6R but I have finally decided to stick with the MK5 until the end of next year when I will be a married man and hopefully much better off financially (Unless bridezilla bankrupts me)
First up was some less obvious modifications. A quick trip to Dubunit for Matt to fit my ECS subframe bolt set and a SuperPro dogbone insert complete with a new stretch bolt. This was more for peace of mind than anything as I have been hearing the odd knock when pulling away.
Once that was done I could fit some of the more obvious parts I had been collecting.
First up was the rear de-wiper kit. I had opted for an acrylic option rather than the glass/rubber bung offerings.
The arm was seized to the motor shaft so there was only one thing for it, bring on the hacksaw!
Rainex will be my friend now I have lost the ability to clear the rear window
I know this mod is not to everyone's tase as it favours form over function but in all honesty I have never used the wiper so it wasnt much of a loss to me.
Lastly I fitted an ABT plate holder (To the rear only)
That's it for now. I have a new set of mats to fit which I will drop in after its had a ruddy good clean this weekend. Then I will be off to Ultimate Dubs bright and early Sunday and now doubt pick up more ideas for the Golf.

I've got a dewiper kit, still weighing up if I want to do it or not, the wiper does come in quite handy with the motorway miles I do

Quite a big update then as it would appear things have started to escalate with the Golf....
After a few unfortunate incidents my Monzas were in need of a refurbishment. Luckily there is a great local company who offer powder coating at reasonable prices. Silly me though I was mooching around the internet to see if there was anything that tickled my fancy as an alternative, well something did. I found some Hartmann Porsche Turbo replica Alloys which had been freshly refurbished looking for a new home. Fast forward a few hours Friday and they were back home ready to fit.
The calipers needed a refresh beforehand though
Before anyone points out the pads have been painted, this was done by the previous owner so I had no choice but to stick with it
First one fitted
Much better stance at the back now
And a a few shots whilst out having a test drive after fitting
Lastly I changed my mats over as the winters had perished badly!
With the addition of the wheels I will be going down the coilover route now so I can get the Golf sitting just right. Hoping to have this done ready for Early Edition along with a full paint correction.
Thanks for reading :happy2:
