« on: June 25, 2015, 06:26:44 pm »
After working all the hours under the sun this month I have decided to put the overtime money to good use!
Have been umming and ahhing about this for a while but I'm gonna go an exhaust upgrade
I'm after a nice low burbly grunty noise
Also - i'm often up quite early for work and dont wanna be 'that guy' so don't want a fart cannon!!
Probably going to have about £550 or thereabouts to play with!

Hope you can help!

You're probably in cat-back price range there rather than turbo-back, so don't expect any big power increase. Replacing the downpipe, and cat (with de-cat or sports cat) is where you'll release some power.

BCS are very popular on here, they do a Powervalve system that is quiet and civilised at part throttle, then nice and meaty on boost as a valve opens that bypasses a silencer.

Milltek are also a tried and tested brand. A few used systems come up for sale on here, and a full turbo-back exhaust with bigger downpipe may well come up within your budget.

Between the two, the consensus is that BCS are possibly better quality, but Milltek are still very good. If you go for Milltek, their 'resonated' systems are a bit quieter than their 'non-resonated'.

Hope this helps!

thanks buddy!

I was under the impression that the BCS powervalve ones are only available as a turbo back system? Or am I wrong?

From everything I've been reading i THINK i want/can afford a cat back non res system of some sort.

Just want to get the right one!

Do a little more overtime and get the turbo back 200cell BCS valved system
Nice and quiet off boost - group B rally car on boost
It worth the extra effort and expense - they are very very well made systems!  :happy2:

My last one made a really nice with just a pipewerx decat and the rest of the system was standard. Defiently felt like it went better too. You can get stainless cat back systems for £250 on eBay that are resonated. Not seen or heard one myself... Just a thought

Pipe werx sell a down pipe with sports cat on eBay for £475, mated to your standard system they sound deeper and you'll be losing the power restriction at the same time! Within budget too!

Arrgh decisions decisions!!!
Doesn't seem to be many votes for getting a catback system at all then?

Even more undecided now!!

Nothing wrong with just a catback. All depends on what you want from it. I wanted more noise so I got a catback, then I can get a down pipe at a later date to make it a full tbe right before I get a remap. Its all personal preference as to what you want from the exhaust.  :happy2:

Undoubtedly one of the best, if not the best option out there.

Just a big chunk of money.

Their downpipe and sports cat alone is 6/700 quid.

I think personally I'll look at more affordable downpipes and sports cats when the time comes for Stage 2 and upwards.

Anyone have any graphs of the gains to be had with different downpipe / cat options? Ie Milltek, Eurojet, Ebay special, BCS, oem precat delete etc?

Would be good to see how they stack up against each other.

Op

With your budget Id smash the Precat out and mate your OEM downpipe to a BCS Sport system.

Speak to Nige, mention the forum and a discount will be yours, can't remember what % it is but a Sport Cat back will be around £500!  :happy2:
