Battery is shot - Hows this?

(1/3) > >>

So my car is nearly 5years old and over the last 6-12 months its had a habit of going flat when parked up for a week or so.

Not been a problem lately as Iv been tackling my DSG conversion and car is beached up in the workshop.

Iv concluded that the battery is probably shot and old and just not reliable as it once was. Even charging it slowly and starting a day after and it struggles to start.

Should have asked before I bought, but wanted a decent battery with good warranty. Opted for Varta C6 silver battery with 5yr warranty from batterymegastore.co.uk for £53 quid and awaiting delivery. Far cheaper than halfords or ECP/CP4L and VW use Varta anyway?

Anyone running this and thoughts/reviews?

Cheers  :happy2:

Will be interested to know too.  When my car was serviced I was advised to renew the battery for the winter.

Halfords only pulls up 2 batteries and their own brand and Yuasa are all less amps and far pricier

From ECP the guarantees are 3 or 4yrs and the ones that are 60ish ah are £80-90 and  70ah are £120-£150

So this Varta seems a decent brand, midrange spec battery with long 5yr guarantee and good price.

My cars only 1.4TFSI not a GTI/R remember!

Im pretty sure the bigger engines batteries are still the same as the smaller engines ahah  :chicken:
