Best pad/polish combo

(1/2) > >>

Trowbridge:
Need to get some new gear, always used hexlogic padson my porter cable until now. What combos work best of mk5s? My cars tornado red.
Thanks

xjay1337:
Depends.

Usually yellow/orange hex logic with scholl s3 or fg400 to cut and a white or black pad with scholl s40 or sf4000 to refine.
but all depends on your technique etc different polishes dry out faster some have longer working times, need lower/higher speed etc.

Id have to agree with jay, my personal collection is orange and white hexlogic pads i also use scholls s17+ and 3 but id listen to jay he gets paid to do it

Ive read some good things about the megs da system and ammonyc on youtube rates it really highly, if i change thats what i think ill try

xjay1337:
S17+ is good! Just took me ages to get used to, seems a bit more finicky.

The megs DA system is really quite good, cuts effectively, useful on more damaged paint or when you need extra cut. Can need additional refining though, where as if you are good and with a DA then you may not need to refine if you use Scholl S3 or an Orange/Yellow pad.

I know what you mean one pass will work a treat the next panel will take 2 or 3 attempts.

Was gonna get the compounding set to get rid of some of the deeper scratches to mine from previous owner, im sure scholls will get it there its just how many passes
