Sorry for the down time.

The forum has been moved to my server .

You should notice that its running a little faster and the search is working. Please point out any bugs.

When I get a bit of time I think an upgrade is in order with image uploads.

@Absolute - is just a mounting dowel that needs drilling on the TTRS pressure plate and you should use an original / TDi friction disc with the correct spline mounting. Is worth googling diy RSR clutch kit to get more insight and parts numbers etc.

Another clutch option is the new stage 2 kit offered by ECS.  As the SMF is still moderately heavy, it should give a decent

Re: Oil Filter socket size
Last Poster: El1M1N8OR in How to Guides / Troubleshooting on Yesterday at 05:50:07 PM
I got a 36mm socket from halfords.

I think the most frustrating bit of this job is removing the sh*tty plastic screw that covers that drain plug. I never tighten that up anymore you need a "special tool"

Pair of vice grips took the cap off.

A shifter on the 36mm nut

After a CAN Gateway
Last Poster: E8RNX in Mk5 General Area on Yesterday at 04:10:16 PM
Hi guys,

I’m after a CAN gatway for my GTI.. Currently, after checking VCDS I have the F revision and that is prone to battery drain.
I have a new head unit on the way (Xtrons Android) which also supports Android Auto and CarPlay if you didn’t know that (you can get an extra dongle that allows this).

So I need a new gateway and from what I’ve heard L or

First don't drive any real distance unless you have checked the sump and oil strainer and topped up the oil. The thermostat is a common issue and plagued most of us at some point and they just start to go "off" Start by changing the main thermostat which is labour intensive but doable. The second more important issue sounds like oil pickup or low oil. Drop the sump and change the p

Re: Retrofit mk5 steering controls
Last Poster: absolute in Mk5 General Area on Yesterday at 09:25:03 AM
Do you have a standard steering wheel at the moment? Don't think you can just retrofit the buttons and module into a standard one, unless you have the cutouts for the buttons?

A lad on here cut his up like a prison snitch @ https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=95667.0. Wasn't tempted myself, don't think it's a very good method at all.

Last Poster: muff1991 in Mk5 General Area on Yesterday at 09:07:38 AM
hi mate, that doesn't sound good at all does it! and very strange!

Even with the genuine tools, your cams will/can still move slightly and can indeed knock it out a tooth! Trust me.. I know!

When I was out a tooth you could hear the engine misfire every few seconds. start your engine and once idle has settled listen for a miss! you'll know if its out a tooth!

Last Poster: Octoparrot in Mk5 General Area on March 21, 2019, 06:55:56 PM
It's come up on here before and I'm sure someone said MK7 fronts bolt right in, but the rears are obviously completely different.  The airbag and electrical harnesses will be different to a MK5 as well.

Anything A3 from the same years should fit, possibly the TT as well.
