Recommended engine oil?
Last Poster: FastSchnitzel41 in Mk5 General Area on Today at 12:43:46 AM
Hi guys, I don't have a service manual so was wondering what the manufacturer recommended engine oil is for the mk5 GTI? Unmodified.

The previous owner said he always used Halfords 5w-30 (I think) but in the past I've used Catrol Edge FST stuff.... what's best for these engines?

Cheers

Re: Bucket Seats + Seatbelts
Last Poster: bobby_fodge in Mk5 General Area on Yesterday at 06:36:15 PM
I fitted a bucket seat.in mine recently. You can strip the drivers female seat belt bit that you clip your seatbelt into from the factory seat. That part has a hole in the bottom that you can fix to the floor using one of the origanl bolts that held the original seat to the floor.

you should contact your insurance regardless as you've had an indecent, you'll need to inform them of what happened and why ect and give them the details of the other insurance, do not speak to the other directly, you pay insurance so let them handle it all. thats my experience of it.

You can get your's repaired by ECU testing than you won't need programming.

Just been out and changed the PCV seeing as though I've bought a new one, may as well.

The date code on the old one was august 2018, so i doubt it'd failed, but hey it's changed now.
Checked all the lines around the PCV, checked what I think the brake booster pipe and all looks good.

I've seen the Hamza video you're referring to, if i blow softly on the P

I am the 4th owner and have owned the car for 4 years. I have improved the car with some choice modifications which improve drive-ability and power delivery. These cars can suffer from wheel hop and torque steer which has been eliminated on this car. It also breaths a lot freer and the power deliver is what it should have been out of the factory. Its very nippy to say the least!

The car has been maintained meticulously with all common fault parts such as thermostat and rear calipers replaced. It also has the latest revision PCV and an uprated diverter valve. Please see service history below for full list.

The car is currently faultless and drives superbly.
